Dear Children,

You are holding in your hands some Lithuanian traditional nursery rhymes, performed by singer Beatrice Grinceviciute. She was born on November 28 1911 in Lithuania, in a beautiful village of Stolaukėlis. From the very early days Beatrice had a very poor sight but good memory and an excellent ear for music that is why she would memorize every single song she heard. She was impressed by the world of sounds and even when she was little she was dreaming to become a singer. Beatrice studied music at the Warsaw Institute for the Blind and singing in Lithuania at the Conservatory of Elena Laumenskiene in 1934. When Beatrice was 21 she became completely blind, she was still working hard to achieve her goal. The dreams to become a singer came true in 1937 when for the first time her voice was heard on the radio. The singer died many years ago, but her voice brings joy to children and adults even today.
This book, dear little readers, is the present for you from the children of Vilnius Foster Home No.2 and other people. We wish you nice moments while reading and listening to Beatrice’s voice.
